I believe that there is more that keeps us together than keeps us apart and that people are more alike than we are different. Vanity, the needing to dress up and impress others, is the root of a lot of our problems. We look at the outside of people rather than what lives on the inside. So I wonder, what have we lost in the modern world? People are social animals and are meant to come together; when borders keep us apart, there is a price to pay. Rodolphe Burger helped me to paint a poetic landscape that evoked a post-apocalyptic world. The sound of his deep knowing voice and the sonic horizon of his guitar playing, which are both so singular, completed the picture.
